Crafty CardMakers Challenge 85: Blooming

I am so excited to have joined the talented design team at Crafty Cardmakers and to share my first DT card.

It is for this weeks Challenge No 85: Blooming images hosted by Marie and sponsored by

We would love it if you came and joined in the fun HERE and check out all the lovely cards by our Design Team.

Straight away I knew I wanted to use either an Orchid or a Lily, my two favourite flowers, but finding an image I liked was not so easy.

I finally found this beauty by Oak Pond Creations, It is a Stargazer Lily, just what I was looking for.

I did find this a little tricky as I have never attempted to colour an image of a flower before and my first choice was to pick some lovely pinks, but after a few combinations I just could not get the look I wanted.

So after a few coffees and a trawl on the internet looking at pictures of lillies I came across the Tiger Lily which is orange in Colour and very striking, so this is the route I took and here is the finished card.

I used a feathering action on the petals to try and get the blending right, which hopefully you can see in the photo below

I used the following Promarkers:

Flowers - Amber, Pumpkin, Pastel Yellow & Spice
Leaves - Forest Green & Lime Twist
I layered and cut some Cardstock using my Woodware Fingerguard Trimmer (Princess Blade) and added some Cricut die-cut Swirls (Cindy Loo) which I  coloured with my Promarkers to match the lilies.

I also coloured some flat back pearls to match.

I hope I have inspired you to have a go and join us this week at Crafty Cardmakers

  5. Fabulous first creation for my team Jules. I love it. Gorgeous soft warm colouring. I can see you will fit right in.

BTW hon, did you realise that unless someone subscribes to the post, not your blog, they will miss your replies? I very rarely go back and check on someone's blog I have commented on unless I asked them a question.

    Anyhow, welcome aboard!
