Crafty Cardmakers #126 -Cut it Out

Leslie is hosting the new challenge today over at Crafty Cardmakers and she has chosen 'Cut it Out' for her theme.

Leslie would like to see die cutting or punching on your project please.

For my card I used a mixture of Green and Cream Card in different textures.  I particularly like the cream textured card as it has a lovely sheen to it.

I cut all the elements out on my silhouette cameo and also used the sketch pens to add the happy birthday.

A few gems and mini roses and my card is complete.

We would love to see your projects.

Open-Minded Crafting Fun #22 - Halloween/Dressing Up

Our challenge this fortnight at Open Minded Crafting Fun is Halloween or Dressing Up.

I was a little stumped with this, as the image I had to play with is 'Lil Red' by Flat Friends and I was not sure how to make this a halloween type project.

So I decide to play on the old fairytale of Little Red Riding Hood and create a wooded scene.

I used a free nighttime backing paper and the woods were created from a Silhoutte file called Hansel and Gretel, but the cut them off, removed the wolf from the digi and placed him like he was in the distance going into the grandmothers house.

Lil Red is coloured with Copics.

We have some great sponsors this week and would you to come and join in.

Day of the Dead Marie

This week I have been playing with another gorgeous image by Aurora Wings, called 'Day of the Dead Marie'.  She is beautifully Dark and not an image I would usually pick.

But I so enjoyed colouring her up, I decided to use non-Halloween colours, choosing a palette of red and Teal, I really like the contrast in these colours.

I mounted the image on a large fancy frame from the silhouette store and finished with a triple red and teal bow and large star shaped diamonte embellishment.

I stippled the background with some ink and used a glitter gel pen on the face makeup and feathers, think you can just about see the shimmer in the feathers here.

Please do pop along to the Showcase site to have a look at all the different beautiful ways this image has been interpreted.

It's Only Words

The challenge this fortnight atCrafty Cardmakers & More is all about Words.

We would like to see words or sentiments as the main focal point of your card.

For my DT project I decided to share the gifts I made my Sons Pre-school teachers when he left to start big School last month.

I used Tagul to create a word cloud in the shape of an Apple and used the teachers name and the name of all the little ones that were moving onto big school to fill the shape.

I layered onto some co-ordinating card stock and then used a  free rose card wrap from Birds Cards to finish it off.

To go with this a decorated an MDF heart for each teacher.

I started by painting it with Silver acrylic paint.  Once this was dry I painted with children's PVA glue and immediately, whilst still wet, painted over with white acrylic paint.  I blasted with  my heat gun and as the glue dries it cracks the top layer of paint, allowing the silver to show through and giving a nice shabby chic finish.

I cut the words out in pink and black vinyl and then used a sparkle modge podge over the top, made a hand tied ribbon and tied around the stalk to finish.

We would love for you to come and join out challenge at Crafty Cardmakers.

Thanks for looking.

Pumpkins

The new challenge over at Open-Minded Crafting Fun is to use Pumpkins/Jack O Lanterns in your project.

This gave me the chance to play with an image I have had for a while by Oak Pond Creations and guess what...... its a stack of Pumpkins, I think that will fit in nicely with my blog.

I decided to go with a halloween theme and layered one of the new halloween papers from The Paper Shelter.

I added a large spiders web with some glitter and a cute lil ghost from the Silhouette store.

The pumpkins are coloured with Copics.

Trick or Treat

Today I want to share with you a little 3D Halloween card I have created, using the new release from Aurora Wings, called 'Trick or Treat Boys'.

My Silhouette Cameo, played a major roll in this project, from cutting the bendy gate card to the little bats - all of which are files from the Silhouette online store.

The image was coloured with a mix of Copics and Promarkers, I really enjoyed colouring this fun image.  It is not normally an image I would colour as we do not send Halloween cards in the UK or celebrate it too much, maybe the odd trick or treater.

So i will keep it on my computer shelf over halloween to make me smile.

You can get this image from the Aurora Wings Shop and also have a look at the other great creations at the  Aurora Wings Showcase Blog.
